It is not recognizing your wireless adapter.
what do you mean? and what is it then?
It probably doesn't recognise the adapter, as p4nt4n3o said, post a screenshot of iwconfig or ifconfig.
which wifi adapter are you using. does it require a powered port? I know some wifi adapters i have tried with kali that require a powered port, just dont work. This is just from my experience and may have just been bad luck with my choice of wifi adapters.
I would suggest an alpha, I currently use the AWUS036NH and the AWUS036N. both work in kali and most people would suggest those adapters for use in kali/pen-testing.
wifi adapter? i only have a wifi router
may be a stupid question but does your laptop have a built in wifi adapter? if so it my not be supported. Also most on-board wifi adapters wont do you much good in kali. I would strongly suggest searching here to get info on wifi adapters that will work with pen testing. I know there are many post on it. but the two adapters i suggested earlier will do the trick and cost about $30, you can find it online with a search.
