Is there a way I can gain access to their filesystem over LAN and placing the meterpreter on their computer?

basically yes but it's really hard.0-day or use beef or MIT attack

Immediately jumping to a zero day exploit is a bit extreme. With proper reconnaissance you should be able to find a suitable vulnerability.
