You could always get a Raspberry Pi 3 for $35...
Probably something like an old dell latitude or an old thinkpad.
Suggestions:
Dell Latitude e6410
Thinkpad x220
Thinkpad t410
I was just about to say that.
Thinkpads range from $300 up to like $800 so that's a solid buy.
My friend bought a older Thinkpad T410 for around $200. It had an i5 and 4GB of RAM. Id recommend looking at older hardware to buy because you could get a nice laptop pretty cheap just because it is a few years old. Look to see if where you're buying it from has a warranty on it because it still is old and if it wasn't taken care of properly could break fairly quickly.
Thinkpad are good because they are easy to upgrade the RAM and HDD/SSD
Acer aspire works pretty good for me.
Just make sure you got more than 6GB RAM, prefer 8GB.
Intel i5
At least 200 Gb of HDD.
This is a good start.
If you become better and need to perform more advanced taskts like GPU cracking, I suggest getting a better and therefore more expensive laptop (800 dollars or more)
buy a old Thinkpad and upgrade the drive to SSD and add some memory, that's all you need.
