Alfa Network Adapter Not Working on Kali Linux USB

Hi all,

I am running kali Linux with persistence from a USB, I purchased the Alfa AWUS036NHA for use with kali Linux,

I followed these steps to install driver

apt-get update

apt-get upgrade

apt-get dist-upgrade

apt-get install firmware-atheros

But when I run iwconfig the only one that appears with extensions is wlan0 which is connected to my home internet (so my internal wireless card)

I have also removed and re installed the atheros drivers to no help, also no light appears in the adapter itself

I have been researching it and ran

Cat /proc/version

Which is said it is version 6.4

Then

bcc — version

Which is version 9.2.1-17

Do these need to be the same and is this related to the problem?
