Botnet on an "Obsolete" OS

Hey, I'm new to hacking. I have a Chromebook and a Mac; my Chromebook has Ubuntu installed and runs gnome which to me is "a Linux OS thing."

I was wondering if anyone could help me set up a botnet on my Chromebook or Mac. I'm hoping to test how secure my servers are against botnets. Thanks in advance.
