We have Ubuntu in our college and it is password protected.
i can only access few things on the PC, if i try to install or uninstall an application it asks a authentication password. I tried searching on net but it did not work. Even the passwd command requires root password.
So how can i change the password

you can simply find your answer by google it "how to reset ubuntu password via terminal"
And as you had sent me the link. I visited.
The moment i open terminal through Ubuntu's GNU GRUB it ask's me the password to continue.

SAMMAR SINGH i tried doing google, some techniques say while booting press ESC to access Ubuntu's GNU GRUB, but it does'nt work
they have some how prevented it.
are you allowed to modify the pc?
