Metasploit Meterpreter "Shell" Command Stuck

I created a backdoor in android and when I go to meterpreter and issue the "shell" command it shows:

*meterpreter > shell

Process 1 created.

Channel 1 created.*

then it doesn't do anything.

PLEASE HELP
