Farewell Byte: Goodbye Alex, Welcome Allen

Goodbye Alex, Welcome Allen

Hello, fellow Null Byters.

Today, with mixed feelings, I want to let you know that this is my last official post as the admin of Null Byte. I've come to the decision that I need to spend more time focusing on my studies. Over the past 5 months, I have enjoyed building this community and teaching people unorthodox methods of doing things, creating things, and hacking them. But I'm also excited to be delving deeper into the studies that brought me here in the first place.

Before my writings here on Null Byte, I spent my time in a hermit state, reading and learning all that I could in the least amount of time I could manage. Though I have enjoyed teaching and educating you all, in order for myself to move forward, I need to get back to my studies and learn the answers to the questions that I still have about nearly everything. There is too much knowledge in the world to not eat it all up!

Don't be alarmed though, Null Byte will still be alive and thriving! The reigns of Null Byte are officially being passed on to Allen Freeman, a well qualified mentor who's looking forward to helping us continue to build our budding community in pursuit of our mission for freedom of information. Here's a little about Allen's background:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate
  • Worked in Signals Intel for the US Army
  • Perl, Python, as well as some PHP and C++
  • Expert Backtrack use (specifically its penetration testing applications)
  • Plays a mean game of chess

I look forward to reading his tutorials and watching Null Byte continue to grow. If you want to contact me (or even social engineer some people for free junk), send me a message or feel free to drop into #darchoods on irc.darchoods.net and drop a line (I'll reply eventually).

As I make my retreat back to the depths of my cave-world to study, remember—the entire world is at the literal fingertips of hackers. Make the most out of the life you have and learn all that you can, because knowledge really is power.

Thanks Alex! This is a great community you have built from the ground up and though the bar is set high, I hope to be able to take it to the next level. I look forward to working with everyone here as 2012 looks to be exciting in information security!

Welcome, Allen. I'm looking forward to reading your articles.

Welcome, Allen! Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us. Alex... you will be missed.

The old king is dead, long live the king. Now just to dig up the old "recover deleted items from hard drive" tutorials to see if we can get them both, lol.

great decission to ocntinue u\your studies.... adding more to your superior computing skills will definatley benefi. Haha in the 1 months ive known about this ive prbably spent at least 40 hours reading all your posts. LIke right now im supposed to be doing my math. XD GL

Alas, I may be missed as well. Won't be on much anymore, and this is as good a place as any to say so because chances are if you come here and find this, this message was intended for you in the first place. I might drop in occasionally, but I won't be spending nearly as much time here. Bye everyone!
