Mastering one language is important, but you also need to know about dozens of other languages and be knowledgeable about other kinds of web technologies.
You need to focus on languages that fit with your goals and master it
What i mean is if you are working with low level applications
>Assembly, C, C++
For Web development
> HTML, CSS, Javascript, apache, mysql
and so on...
then you can explore other ones...
shell scripting is also good to learn..
