Forum Thread: AWUS036NHA TX Power Problem

I can't adjust tx power for my AWUS036NHA adapter. It stays at 20 dBm no matter what I do.

I'm posting this thread here because I have run out of options, and am really hoping someone here can help.

I tried downloading the packages linked in the different tutorials, but they are outdated now, so I downloaded crda-3.18 and wireless regdb 2015.12.14 instead.

Things I have tried so far:
1) How to Set Your Wi-Fi Card's TX Power Higher Than 30 dBm
https://null-byte.wonderhowto.com/how-to/set-your-wi-fi-cards-tx-power-higher-than-30-dbm-0149606/

2) ALL variations of the following commands:
ifconfig wlan0 down
iw reg set US (Tried ALL regions)
iwconfig wlan0 txpower 30
ifconfig wlan0 up

3) NicktheGreek's guide on increasing TX power:

4) How to Increase TX-Power in Kali 2.0

Currently running Kali 2 in Virtualbox 5.

Did you try iw reg set BZ?

Thank you for your suggestion, but as stated in the OP, I have tried all region settings. The region changes just fine, but TX power stays the same no matter what I do.

I have your same problem with the TP LINK TL-WN722N and Parrot OS on VmWare workstation. I'm trying to understand if it depends on the virtualization or chipset. I'll try to do the same on the phisical installation of Kali 2.0 on my laptop, as soon as I find five minutes free to do it :)

Thank you, P4nt4n30, but I have already tried that guide. I wanted to link it in the OP, but I couldn't remember where to find the tutorial or what is was called, or who made it. My bad.

Just out of curiosity have you verified that you have a true alfa wifi adapter. There are a lot of fakes on the market. If you search the web you can find out how to tell if it is a real alfa or not.

hi,

Did you find a way to raise the tx power with the AWUS036NHA ?
