More detail to your hypothetical question please and Hello.
yes
And can I get into someones network by hacking their router?
Ivan Knezovic
Can you tell me how?
Mjinko:
Yes you can. Quite often routers will be running on 3-4 year old firmware which will no longer be supported; once you exploit and compromise the router, you will have access to the network.
Another pro is that routers are almost always turned on, meaning that you will very likely have access 24/7.

copy/paste this: nmap -sS -sV -vv -n -Pn -T5 xxx.xxx.xxx.1/24 -p80 -oG - | grep 'open'
Feel free to pick another range and/or -255 it
Cyberhitchhiker:
That nmap command is great for finding any device with port 80 open on a class C network. I'm not sure its that's what he is looking for.
OTW
ADSL modems will show this way. Just look for banners in dump and connect one at a time to see if admin pops up.
in Zenmap: nmap -sS -sV -vv -n -Pn -T5 xxx.xxx.xxx.1/24 -p80 -oG -
Plus figure its general purpose hoping he can look at it and learn something.
