Forum Thread: Have to Get Back the Dual Boot Option.

I have dual boot kali linux 2.0 and windows 7 on my laptop.

Due to some reason i inserted win7 disk and upgraded it and now i dont get the kali grub boot option to select win7 or kali. my laptop directly boots into win7. what to do?

Did your update reformat the hard drive? If so then you'll have to reinstall Kali altogether. You can check to see if your Kali partition still exists by using the gparted tool in a Kali live boot.

If your partition does still exist, you may want to look in your BIOS and make sure you boot to that partition.

What happened is while upgrading windows7, the boot flag is set to the windows drive(MBR). Live boot with Kali, open gparted and set the boot flag to your Kali partition. It should work if not then try reinstalling grub in hard drive.
