To Create Your own software
Nothing is perfect in this world nor the software so with PROGRAMMING language you can create you own or modify others to you choice(if they are open source)
And the big reason is not being called script kidde
Because you cannot manipulate or modify something if you yourself do not understand the foundations of how something works.
A basic understanding of programming fundamentals will help you a lot.
