I've recently created a live Kali USB with additional persistent storage but the instructions I followed did not mention encryption. Is there any way to add encryption to the persistent partition after the fact, or should I have gone about it in a different way?

I am constantly amazed and full of gratitude for the detailed posts that are put up on here. I've been lurking for about 6 months and have learned a massive amount of stuff. Now it's time to move from theory to practice I think.
Will adding encryption to the perisistence storage format all the data?
